That dress on the left (Rodarte for Target, of course) is officially on my “want.it.now” list. The collection’s not available until Dec. 20th, but it shall be mine. This is probably the first time I’ve ever had any desire to put a shopping event on my calendar with a reminder. I’ll be coming off finals then, so it’s necessary to ensure I don’t forget. I’ve been so busy helping with the organization of this conference basically since the semester started that I haven’t even had a chance to post about it. Well, it’s this weekend so if you’re in NYC and want to attend, you can find more info as well as the program on the conference website.
A lot of the Tumblr community is made up of “NYC media people,” so I thought it would be a good idea to put it out there in case anyone’s interested. It’s entirely free to attend, but you can only go if you’ve registered on the site. I’m finishing out the name badges tomorrow afternoon, so do it soon if you plan on it.

The fake AP stylebook has to be the best use of Twitter at the moment, although its solid gold is probably lost on you if you don’t know about stylebooks.
While I’m at it, I should also give a shout-out to Roger Ebert (@ebertchicago), once a vocal opponent of Twitter who finally joined up earlier this month and has turned into one of the best tweeters around.
I tweet too (@_ckck) but not as consistently or impressively.

On two separate occasions in the past week, I have received 1 Zloty coin (approx. same size, color, weight as a quarter) and 1 Canadian cent when getting change for something. I want my 26 cents!
Went to see this in the afternoon by my lonesome. It was parts funny, parts cute, parts sentimental, but I liked Paris, Je T’aime better as a whole. The intertwining of each director’s selection instead of just showing them sequentially was a bit forced…but I think my faves were the one with Anton Yelchin and Olivia Thirlby, the one Natalie Portman directed, and the one Fatih Akin directed.
FYI New Yorkers: If ever you want to see a movie in theaters but not quite enough to pay $12 for it, get breakfast early on the weekend and go see it for half price at any AMC/Loews theater before noon. Kips Bay is my favorite because they seem to get all new releases, put at least one showing of it between 11 and noon, and there will be like 5 other people in the theater with you.
I feel like this is the only place I can scream “BOYS (who really should be men) CAN BE SUCH JACKASSES” without getting any flak or faux-sympathy for it like I would elsewhere…but please don’t prove me wrong on that, tumblr. that’s it really.
you know when it’s raining and you put on your shoes, throw things in your backpack and get out of there ASAP that you are pissed. thank goodness it was with just enough time to get on the L before it quit running past Lorimer. i don’t even want to be home right now. i just didn’t want to be there anymore.
